It has been a while since I have taught babies, and I decided to do it again because it sounded like a great place to work (and they pay fairly well). I was hoping to work with the older kids at the school (3-6 years), but got placed in a nursery class (18 months - 3 years). This turns out to be a good thing. Basically I have very little planning and recording to do since my students are so young the way they learn English is by immersion. I just help them with whatever they are doing, and they pick up on the language. So basically I plan my circle time everyday (1 - 30 minute lesson) and that is it :) Then while the kids nap I do all the note taking that I need to do -- woohoo. On top of that, the kids are so cute, and I get to be really excited about really little things -- like Eric said 'monkey' today without prompting -- yea Eric! The other good thing about this whole arrangement is that there are 4 teachers in the morning to 17 kids and in the afternoon there are only 4 students and 3 kids; great ratios.
This is the classroom before the kids arrive. And surprisingly enough it actually looks like this whenever the kids are not there because they need to 'tidy up' themselves.
